Road Trip '04 : Grand Canyon

This is a day by day account of my road trip to the Grand Canyon. The original plan had been to spend several days in Arizona. Unfortunately, it was raining in Arizona, so I made a detour to California and Lost Wages instead.

Enjoy the pictures!

Day 2 : West Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona

There are no "Day 1" photos. I was in rain from the time I left Dallas until I found a motel, late that evening. Day 2 led me to snow, snowplows, more rain, etc...

Day 3: Arizona and California

It was raining in Arizona (this made the 3rd straight day of driving in the rain), so I headed for California. It's always sunny in California, right??

Day 4 : San Diego and Las Vegas

Before I headed for Vegas (and eventually the Grand Canyon), I spent a little time at the beach in San Diego. I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure it's high on my "I want to go back there" list of places.

Day 5 : Las Vegas, Lake Mead, and the Grand Canyon

I meandered from Vegas, through lake Mead, across the Hoover Dam, and - finally - to the Grand Canyon.

Day 6 : Grand Canyon (Deer, Coyotes, and mud, oh my!)

I spent most of the day just driving around the park. "Where does this road go?" One or two, I found out, didn't really go much of anywhere, except to mud and the potential for getting stuck.

Day 7 : Grand Canyon, Arizona, and Colorado

After leaving the Grand Canyon, I stopped off at Four Corners. From there, I went to Bayfield, CO, to visit with some friends.

Day 8 : Colorado and New Mexico (black & white)

The trip started in the rain. The trip began to end in the snow. Fortunately, I ran out of the snow, by the time I got to New Mexico. From there, it was smooth sailing.

Day 8 : Colorado and New Mexico (color)

This is the same set of pictures as above -- they're just in color here.
