Road Trip '04 : Grand Canyon

Day 6 (11/18/04) : Grand Canyon (Deer, Coyoes, and mud, oh my!)

I spent most of the day juts driving around the park. "Where does this road go?" One or two, I found out, didn't really go much of anywhere, except to mud and the potential for getting stuck. Some others found some nice views and scenery.

Current conditons : Brrrrrr!!

Yep! Brrrr, indded!

Sunrise over the Grand Canyon.

Shortly after sunrise. This is from pretty much the same spot.
(Although, right now, I'm not sure exactly where that spot was.)

Shortly after sunrise, after kiking a short way down a trail.

A couple of hours later, while driving around on some under-developed roads...
I don't think I caught an animal out in the open, this whole trip.
They were all hiding in the shade (or somewhere completely unseen)...

Like I said... under-developed roads. It got worse... a lot worse.
The worst one I came across was probably 3 times as long and at least half-again as muddy.
I didn't stop to take a picture of that one, though. I had found someone who seemed to know their way out of this mess.
So, I kept following them (and hoping they'd help fish me out, if I got stuck)!

Another one... in the shade. This one, obviously, isn't a deer, though! :)
This picture has been cropped and edit a little, to make him more visible.

Same guy (or gal?), still in the shade.
He seemed to be checking me out, but never got close enough for a 'real' good shot of him.
This picture has also been cropped and edit a little, to make him easier to see.

I said the road got worse! Yeah, the mud got that far up on the wheels...!

The Desert View Watch Tower.
There is a painting at work that inspired me to take this specific shot.
