Road Trip '04 : Grand Canyon
Day 2 (11/14/04) : West Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona
This is a day by day account of my road trip to the Grand Canyon.
The original plan had been to spend several days in Arizona.
Unfortunately, it was raining in Arizona, so I made a detour to California and Lost Wages instead.
Enjoy the pictures!

"On The Road Again"... Somewhere in West Texas.
It's looking more like the same old business from Day 1,
which is why there were no Day 1 pictures.
This was taken an hour or two after the first picture.
I decided to head North, towards Guadalupe National Park.
Yes, that's a hint of a rainbow on the mountain, heading towards the park.
Another hour or so has gone by.
This was taken as I entered the park...
...which turned out to be my first (but not last) sight of snow for the day.
I decided to head North, towards Carlsbad.
I ran into more snow, but - again - not the last.
Yikes! A snow plow?! What'd I get myself into??
A pretty Maple Tree, in all its fall splendor.
This one didn't turn out as good as I would've liked.
There was nowhere to pull off, so I had to just slow down and snap it, as I drove by.
This was heading towards Cloudcroft, NM.
Yep! That's snow coming down.
It was fairly heavy at times. But, the roads weren't frozen, so it wasn't too bad.
Moving along down the road. It sure looks cold, out there!
Outside of Cloudcroft, on the way back down.
What a difference an hour makes!
This is a little outside of Cloudcroft, on the way back down.
No snow. No rain. Just beautiful (albeit cool) sunshine.
This is from the same spot as the last picture, just pointing down into the valley to the North.
White Sands National Park, New Mexico.
I got here a little too late to get any good light on the sand.
All considered, I thought this one came out alright.
White Sands National Park, New Mexico.
There's too much cloud cover, but I couldn't resist trying to get a little bit of the sunset.
The dunes just go on and on and on and on and on...
Tucson, AZ, at a Truck Stop near where I stayed.
To some people, the "TTT" may look familiar...
I guess it's catching on every where!
